The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

I didnt say that the cost of labor was a driving factor because Im aware that many take that sort of comment negatively. They would rather find blame with other things than admit our workers get paid too much to allow their companies to compete with companies operating in low wage countries. Anyway, theres not a lot we can do about wages, short of getting rid of the unions., so we just have to try to be competitive by focusing our attention on other factors like productivity, innovation, taxes, quality, responsiveness, reliability, etc. Thanks.

Im working with a wonderful program called Harmony, Hope and Healing in Chicago that works among marginalized folks, many of whom are women who are survivors of rape, drug/alcohol addiction and prostitution. The program uses music and sound to bring healing and to help people find their authentic voices.It was started ten years ago by Marge Nykaza who partners with leaders of Chicago recovery shelters and community centers. It is a privilege to work with the women and men in recovery, the elderly, and moms with kids. I really enjoyed the story about Thistle Farms and the Magadalene communiity. We are on a similar path. May God continue to bless Thistle Farms and the women of Magdalene community. Thank you PBS for airing this story.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
